Magic Spells in Elden Ring include powerful Incantations and Sorceries that can alter the tides of battle in your favor. This guide will expand on the different types of magic spells available in Elden Ring and how to make the most of them for your build.
Elden Ring Magic Spells Explained
Magic Spells in Elden Ring are powerful casted effects that come in the form of Sorceries or Incantations. Sorceries require a specific amount of Intelligence Stat in order to use while Incantations require Faith. Both types of Spells use FP to cast.
Magic Spells in Elden Ring include a large variety of Offensive, Defensive, and Supporting effects. In order to cast a Spell, a Magic Staff or Sacred Seal must first be equipped and the Spell must be memorized.
All currently known Magic Spells for Elden Ring are listed below.
Elden Ring Magic Types
The two main types of Magic Spells are Sorceries which scale with Intelligence and Incantations which scale with Faith. Both types use FP to cast.
Where To Find Spells In Elden Ring
Magic Spells in Elden Ring are most often found from merchants and spell vendors located throughout the world, though they can sometimes be gained from defeated enemies or looted from chests.
How To Cast Spells In Elden Ring
In order to cast a Spell in Elden Ring, that spell must first be memorized and a Staff or Sacred Seal must be equipped. Spells also have a base attribute score that must be met before the spell can be cast. For Sorceries, a certain level of Intelligence Stat must first be obtained. For Incantations, a certain level of Faith Stat must first be obtained.
Both Sorceries and Incantations cost FP to cast, so enough FP must also be available to the player.
Memorizing Spells
Spells in Elden Ring can only be memorized while resting at a Site Of Grace. Memorizing a spell will allow players to equip that spell into a spell slot. You can also remove or replace spells while memorizing.
Most Spells in Elden Ring will only require 1 slot to memorize, while other more powerful Spells like Dragonroar can require 2.

Charged Spells vs. Regular Casted Spells
Spells in Elden Ring can also be charged and often have entirely new effects compared to their normal cast, not just more damage. For example some charged spells may also knock down mounted enemies or place longer lasting effects in the world. And this is for the same amount of FP as the regular version of the spell.
Casting Magic Spells While Riding A Horse In Elden Ring
Magic Spells can also be cast while riding on horseback in Elden Ring. This can be very effective, especially against some of the game’s massive Field Bosses. In order to cast a magic spell while riding a horse in Elden Ring you must have a Staff or Sacred Seal equipped and enough FP as usual. You can also cast charged Spells while riding a horse in Elden Ring.
How To Upgrade Your Spells In Elden Ring
Magic Spells in Elden Ring can be upgraded to greater strength at the Spell Trainer located in Round Table hold.
