New World Spear Introduction
In New World, the Spear is known for it’s long reach and aggressive thrusting attacks. Spears are perfect for keeping targets at a distance, strategic positioning, and applying persistent pressure to targets.
Spear Damage Scaling In New World
The Primary Attribute for the Spear in New World is Dexterity. The Secondary Attribute is Strength. Investing into either Attribute will increase the damage of your Spear’s basic attacks and special abilities, though you will see a greater bonus for investing in Dexterity.
Basic Attack Types
Light Attack: Deals 100% Thrust Damage
Heavy Attack: Deals 130% Thrust Damage
Charged Heavy Attack: Deals 165% Thrust Damage
Spear Skill Trees
The two Skill Trees available for the Spear are Zoner and Impaler.
Spear Zoner Tree – Active Skills
Javelin
Throw your spear, dealing 125% weapon damage and staggering on hit.

Forceful Impact
Targets are knocked down on hit.
Tier II
Refreshing Precision
Headshots reduce cooldown by 50.0%.
Tier IV
Deadly Distance
+2.5% damage per meter traveled (+100% max).
Tier IV
Sweep
Sweep the target's legs, dealing 75.0% weapon damage and knocking them down.
Cooldown: 10.0

Tier II
Tenacious Sweep
GRIT is now active during the attack.
Tier III
Coup De Grace
Press Basic Attack during the Sweep to follow up with a powerful downward stab that deals 125.0% weapon damage.
Tier IV
Cyclone
Spin attack that deals 110% weapon damage, pushes targets back 3m and applies 50% Slow for 3.0s.
Cooldown: 12.0

Tier III
Invigorating Combo
Restore 25.0 stamina per hit.
Tier IV
Strong Momentum
GRIT is now active during the attack making your attacks unstoppable.

Spear Impaler Tree – Active Skills
Skewer
Rush forward and skewer your target, dealing 125.0% weapon damage. Applies Bleed (10.0% weapon damage) every 1.0 second for 10.0 seconds.

Deadly Ambush
+20.0% damage against targets that have full health.
Tier II
Follow Through
Gain Empower on Critical Hits, increasing damage by 20.0% for 10.0 seconds.
Tier IV
Deep Wound
Bleed duration increased to 15.0 seconds.
Tier IV
Perforate
Three quick piercing strikes that each deal 70% weapon damage and apply Rend, reducing the target's damage absorption by 5% for 10 seconds.

Tier II
Rupturing Strikes
Rend increased to 10.0% per strike against targets above 50.0% health.
Tier IV
Impactful Strikes
Target is staggered if you successfully land all three hits.
Tier V
Vault Kick
Use your spear to vault forward and kick your target, dealing 75.0% weapon damage. Applies Stun for 1.5 seconds.
Taunt Gem Compatible: If you have a Carnelian gem equiped in your spear, this ability cause a 2.0s taunts when it hits. Taunt causes monsters to focus only on you.

Relentless Blows
Gain Empower after successful hits on targets below 50.0% health, increasing damage by 20.0% for 5.0 seconds.
Tier IV
Continuous Motion
Cooldowns for other spear abilities are reduced by 30.0% on successful hit.
Tier V
Spear Zoner Tree – Passive Skills
Evasive Maneuvers
Dodging backwards consumes 20% less stamina for 2 seconds after successful hits.
Tier II
Defensive Stance
Gain Fortify after successful heavy attacks, increasing damage absorption by 15% for 2 seconds.
Tier IV
Spear Impaler Tree – Passive Skills
Refreshing Jabs
All spear cooldowns are reduced by 10% on the second hit of the light attack chain.
Tier I
Crippling Jabs
The last hit of the light attack chain applies 30% Slow for 3 seconds to targets below 30% health.
Tier II
Aggressive Maneuvers
The first successful hit with an ability within 2 seconds of dodging reduces all Spear cooldowns by 20%.
Tier IV
Exacerbating Crits
Critical Hits extend the duration of your Spear debuffs and damage over time effects by 20%.
